Purchased this 36" x 46" (Foo Dog) in late 70's or early 80's in Key West. Possibly was displayed at the "Monster" bar and may have been a group of 7 paintings. We love it and it has been prominently displayed in our home all of these years. How do we send a picture?
I have a Van Eno painting from 1983 that is very similar in style and them to "The Archer." Will send a photo soon...The painting is at my home in Puerto Vallarta, and I'm in NYC right now. The painting I have has the same dense vegetation surrounding the colorful central characters, being a yellow and red striped dragon observing what appears to be a make figure lying down...you only see his legs and feet...the rest is behind a large root of a tree. I always believed the theme is masturubation... You can't see it, but it just looks like a male figure lying in the woods jerking off...even the dragon seems to suggest this, for some reason. It's a fantastic piece, And I just had it re-framed. I love it!
I was a very close friend of Van's & was his main caregiver in his final days. We had both moved to KW around the same time. I had bought one of his first works that he had put up for sale shortly after moving there. Thru that work of his we became very close friends (no sex...just good friends). Van was an early AIDS victum. Back then it was a fast & furious death. Very heart breaking!!! Needles to say I lost 95 percent of my friends to that disease back then. I reached a point where I just had to GET OUT of what KW had become because of AIDS. I had 3 or 4 of Van's large works & over the years I have sold them. It was not easy for me to live with them!!! I do have the final work Van worked on up to his death...it is signed but not finished. When I get a new computer I will send a copy (front & back) of that picture to you. I just discovered this website in the last few days & was sooooooooooooooo happy that Van's work has the LOVE it deserves. Back in the early days of this New Century I spent much time in Laos. It's an amzing-amazing place...another planet really. I would always think about Van & if he were here now he would get to experience the same joy & happines that Laos has given me. 5 years ago...unfortunately for me...after only being back in America from Laos for 2 weeks I had a BadAss stroke. I am very-very fortunate to have made an amazing recovery. To meet me one would not even guess that I had had a killer stroke. I would greatly appreciate that this be treated as a letter to M&M & not a post. I will work on a better post when I have the time. I am very slow these days...to say the least. Thank you both for the creating this site for Van!!! He would be very pleased with it...laofalang
ps...if you ever want to try another planet - give Laos a visit. My project this year is to put together a return...also please excuse any bad spelling or such...I used to be a decent writer etc. but...

I have Van Enos painting of " three dancers". Great work but it could be purchased.
Nice site! Nice to see someone has gotten it together. Let's increase each others traffic. If you would like to exchange links, let me know.
MY partner and I were friends with Van Eno when we lived in Key West in the early 80's. We bought one of his pieces called "DO YOU THINK I'M SEXY? " From the original Gingerbread Gallery. We were wondering if you know anyone interested in purchasing it. Sincerely, Robert Nickels
